Searching for a Jazzy Poster for the 40th Merimbula Jazz Festival
Each year the Merimbula Jazz Festival Committee awards a Bega Valley artist the opportunity to have their artwork used as the basis for the MJF poster, and in 2020 it will be a very special 40th anniversary of the festival.
The work remains the property of the artist. A $200 prize is awarded to the successful artist and in return the artist grants the MJF licence to use images of the work on the MJF website, Facebook page and any other promotional materials such as posters, flyers and pamphlets to promote the Merimbula Jazz Festival.
The artist’s name is also highlighted and thus promoted.
All entered paintings must feature a Jazz Theme and may be in oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastel or mixed media and must be displayed in Club Sapphire for the week leading up to the festival and also for the duration of the festival to add to the jazzy atmosphere of the festival.
The MJF Committee doesn’t judge the quality of the works as such but rather selects what they believe to be a suitable work for a poster for the following year.
The MJF will be celebrating a significant milestone in 2020 with it’s 40th festival.
- All entrants must be residents of the Bega Valley Shire.
- The competition is staged in two sections, Senior and Junior.
- Senior is from 16 years of age and Junior is 15 years and under.
- There is a limit of 3 works per artist.
