Happy New Year Jazz Lovers and Musicians

Welcome to 2024 and the world of jazz here in Merimbula.

The wonderful musicians who take part in the Merimbula Jazz Festival perform a wide range of jazz styles from trad through to swing, modern and fusion; there’s something for everyone.

Our Early Bird Jazz Lover tickets at just $100 for an entire weekend of music 7th-10th June 2024, are now available on our website.

We also want to throw a few other temptations your way.

The wonderfully wild Sapphire Coast where the Merimbula Jazz Festival takes place is known for its award-winning Sydney Rock oysters. There are internationally recognised boutique distilleries, and a range of restaurants and cafes which have gathered many accolades for their cuisine.

Want to stretch your legs between sets? Check out some of the attractions in the local area.

Book in for our Vocal Workshops

There’s even more on offer at the Merimbula Jazz Festival this year.

If the sound of a gospel choir fills you with joy, join our workshop and be part of the Gospel Choir which will perform at the Ecumenical Service on Sunday morning 9th June.

Does the sound of the big band set your pulse racing – don’t hold back – join the Swing Jazz Choir vocal workshop and perform with a big band as part of the festival program. Beginners and experienced singers are welcome. Find out more here under the Vocal Workshops heading, and book your place here.

Registered Jazz Lovers and Musicians are all welcome to participate in the vocal workshops.

We’re excited by this new feature of our program and recommend booking early as places are limited.

A reminder for Musicians

A big thank you to all those Band Leaders who have registered for MJF 2024. We’d like to remind you and your band members to register as Musicians as your band won’t be registered until all your Musicians have completed their registrations.

Looking forward to seeing you in Merimbula!

This year, will see the return of the popular Lakeside Lantern Walk. Assembly will be at 5 pm at Spencer Park, Merimbula. The walk begins at 5:30pm and makes its way into Beach Street, ending near Twyford Hall.

The Ecumenical Service will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Merimbula. The Gospel Choir, one of the festival’s new additions, will take advantage of the wonderful acoustics in St Joseph’s, to bring an added dimension to the much-loved service.

The Jazz Festival program will recommence at noon in all venues and continue through until 11pm. Jazz Quest will be held in the Maple Leaf Room at the Merimbula RSL Club. It’s a great opportunity to hear the future trends of jazz and to be amazed at the talent on show from our young musicians.

The Jazz Party is a fun-filled day to be held at Merimbula RSL and will feature a line up of popular bands. From 11am until 4pm, there’s non-stop music with five bands and the festival raffle. It is a community event and is free for all. You cannot bring your own food or drinks but there will be plenty available at a reasonable cost.

We look forward to seeing you in Merimbula in 2024 for the Merimbula Jazz Festival.
